Yee Jenn Jong, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, MSc., MBA
Mr Yee is a seasoned education entrepreneur who has founded several start-ups, including ASKnLearn, The Learning Grid and 360 Education and served as General Manager / Director in preschool groups. He has mentored successful start-ups such as KooBits and Miao Academy. He had served in the college and school advisory board of Temasek Junior College and Naval Base Primary School. He has twice received the Service to Education Award from MOE, the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Temasek Junior College, and the Excellence in E-Learning Award from the World Education Congress.
Mr Yee has served in national committees including the InfoComm Education Workgroup by IDA, ACE Start-Up by SPRING Singapore and the Policy Workgroup on Education by REACH Singapore. He was also in the EXCO of the Singapore IT Federation (E-Learning Chapter) and a member of Singapore’s 12th Parliament.
Mr Yee also has notable overseas contributions. He was the lead consultant to the government of Bhutan in the development of their ICT Masterplan for Education in 2013 and was a consultant to publishing giant Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt.
Mr Yee graduated with Honours and Masters in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and MBA from the Nanyang Business School (NTU) on an OCBC Bank Scholarship. He won the Computer Science Book prize and Academic Excellence Award at Temasek Junior College, and the Li Jen Industry prize for the top honours’ year project at NUS.
He believes in the innovative use of technology and well-designed curriculum to spark the life-long learning interest in students.
Teo Lay Leng, Co-Founder and Chief Learning Officer
Ms Teo is a highly experienced teacher who started teaching Mathematics and Science in primary schools since 1992 after she graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Science. She obtained her Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the Nanyang Technological University and assumed the role of Head of Science in 1997 in a primary school. Through that leadership and management role, she accumulated a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience in curriculum design and pedagogy.
Ms Teo left MOE in 2008 and continued to excel in the education sector as a private tutor and author. She has taught nearly 1,000 primary school students over the past 10 years, specialising in preparing students for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). Many of her students have attained excellent results and have gone on to study at top secondary schools in Singapore. Mdm Teo is able to effectively communicate and convey key learning points to her students. Her forte lies in her abilities to train students with the appropriate strategies that will enable them to master skills and techniques to excel during examinations. She is passionate, patient and dedicated in her profession. She is skilled in the creative use of ICT and various pedagogical aids to ensure students are continuously motivated through the provision of an enriched learning environment.
Ms Teo has also authored 3 series of Science assessment books for Ace Publications which include :
1. Science Explorer (Primary 3 to Primary 6)
2. A* Science Challenge (Primary 3 to Primary 6) and
3. Science Misconceptions (Primary 4 to Primary 6).
She has also written a series of Mathematics books entitled ‘Problem-Solving Made Easy’ for Primary 4 to Primary 6 pupils. These books are continually being used by top schools to supplement their teaching curriculum.
Ms Teo brings to Ignium Academy her wealth of experience in teaching and instructional design. This is exemplified by a decade of highly successful small group coaching. Her concise methods of explaining and teaching will be infused into Ignium Academy’s overall design of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.
Er Kwong Wah

Mr. Er Kwong Wah has served as a Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education from 1987 to 1994 and the Ministry of Community Development from 1994 to 1997. He served in the Civil Service until 1998 for 27 years. He served in various ministries such as Defence, the Public Service Commission, Finance, Education and the Community Development. He was actively involved in the Sembawang group of companies and has served for many years as director of public listed and private companies, including in the education space.
Mr Er is active in community service and has been the Chairman of the Toa Payoh Central Citizens Consultative Committee and Member of the Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council. He served a number of positions in public sector, including the Council Member of the National University of Singapore, a Board Member of both the Singapore Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. In recognition of his extensive achievements during his office in the public sector, Mr. Er was awarded by the Singapore Government, the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 1990. He was honoured by the French Government for his significant contributions in the field of education with a Commandeur dans 1' Ordre des Palmes Academiques in 1991. He was awarded the Public Service Medal (PBM) by the Singapore Government. He has served as Deputy Chairman of the Singapore Sports Council.
Mr Er graduated from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 1970 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Electrical Engineering, 1st Class Hons) under a Colombo Plan Scholarship. Mr. Er completed an MBA Degree from the University of Manchsester Business School, United Kingdom in 1978, under a Bank of Tokyo Scholarship.
Mr Stanley Han, Inventor of KooBits
Mr Han co-founded KooBits in 2007, a technology spin-off from the National University of Singapore. In 2015, KooBits has successfully clinched the EdTech Excellence Awards at the Bett Asia Leadership Summit in Singapore, which celebrates Asia's best people and solutions that transform education through technology. In previous years, KooBits has received a 5-star review from global technology review site CNET, as well as the INFOCOMM SINGAPORE AWARDS and the ASIA PACIFIC ICT AWARDS 2008. Stanley has over 10 years’ experience working with educators and technologists on interactive digital platforms for children. He was also featured in BusinessWeek’s Asia’s Best Young Entrepreneurs 2008.
Mr Han studied in Hwa Chong institution and obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in June 2005 at the National University of Singapore. Mr Han was the recipient of the “Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry and The Chinese High School Scholarship” from 1997 to 1998, the “Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry Pre-University Scholarship” from 1999 to 2000, and the “Scholarship for Undergraduate Studies in Singapore” from 2001 to 2005. He obtained excellent academic results in both Singapore-Cambridge GCE “O”-Level and GCE “A”-Level exams, and was concurrently offered undergraduate opportunity by National University of Singapore, University of Cambridge – Fitzwilliam College, Imperial College University of London, and Cornell University.
Dr Justina Tan
Dr. Justina Tan holds two doctorates: from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and University College London; she also holds a MA from Columbia, USA. She is a former Lecturer with the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.She is also a former teacher of Raffles Institution, which is considered one of the most prestigious schools in Singapore. She still teaches the teachers at the Ministry of Education, Singapore. Dr Justina is also the founder of The Klover Language School, based in Bangkok, Thailand.
